Information
Christopher A. Goelz is a
Circuit Court Mediator for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. His
duties include selecting cases for the Court's settlement program,
conducting settlement conferences and entering procedural orders in
selected cases. He has also worked for the Court in its civil motions
unit, was the Reporter for the Court's Long Range Plan, and has
participated in the formulation of many aspects of court procedure.
Before joining the Court staff, he was engaged in private practice in
San Francisco as a civil litigator. Mr. Goelz is admitted to practice
before the Ninth Circuit, and is a member of the California State Bar
and the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Professionals in
Dispute Resolution. He is a graduate of Yale Law School.
Meredith J. Watts is
engaged in
private practice in San Francisco and specializes in federal appeals and
writs. She has served on the staff of the Ninth Circuit Court of
Appeals as a Prebriefing Conference Attorney, and also in the Court's
civil motions unit. Ms. Watts is admitted to practice before the Ninth
Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, and is also a member of the
California State Bar. She has served on the Federal Courts Committee of
the California State Bar Association. Ms. Watts is a graduate of
Hastings College of Law, where she was Articles Editor of the
Constitutional Law Quarterly.
