Federal Civil Trials and Evidence -- Author Information

Judge Robert E. Jones is a Senior United States District Judge for the District of Oregon. He was a distinguished trial lawyer and past president of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. Before appointment to the federal bench, he served as Circuit Judge for the State of Oregon, and as Associate Justice on the Oregon Supreme Court. He is an adjunct professor at Northwestern School of Law, Lewis and Clark College. Judge Jones has also served on the faculties of the National Judicial College, the American Academy of Judicial Education, and the Federal Judicial Center, and has written extensively on evidence and civil procedure topics.



Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen was appointed a United States Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan in March 1990 and became Chief Judge in January 2009. Prior to taking the bench, he was a senior partner in Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone. Earlier, he was a Legislative Assistant to former U.S. Senator Robert P. Griffin of Michigan. Judge Rosen has served on the U.S. Judicial Conference Criminal Law Committee and other public boards and commissions. He has lectured to attorneys and judges nationwide on civil procedure and evidence topics and is an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School and Thomas Cooley Law School. Judge Rosen has written numerous articles on litigation topics and is coauthor of The Rutter Group's "Federal Civil Trials and Evidence" and “Federal Employment Litigation” as well as Thomson West's "Michigan Civil Trials and Evidence." Judge Rosen is a graduate of George Washington University Law School. He is on the adjunct faculty at University of Michigan Law School and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.



William E. Wegner is a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, in Los Angeles, and serves as general counsel to a major entertainment company. He specializes in complex commercial litigation and is a past president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Mr. Wegner is a frequent lecturer on evidence and civil trial topics in continuing legal education programs. He is a coauthor of California Practice Guide: Civil Trials & Evidence, published by The Rutter Group.



Judge Jeffrey S. Jones is a State Circuit Court Judge in Clackamas County, Oregon. He is a former Deputy District Attorney for Multnomah County, Oregon. Judge Jones is an adjunct professor on evidence at Northwestern School of Law, Lewis and Clark College, and has taught advanced advocacy at Willamette Law School. He is a frequent lecturer on evidence and trial advocacy in continuing legal education programs, and a coauthor of Evidence: Oregon, published by the Oregon State Bar.
