Justice Ming W. Chin is an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. He previously served as the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, First District, Division Three; and earlier on the Alameda County Superior Court. Justice Chin is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and also taught law there. Before his appointment to the bench, he had extensive trial experience as an Alameda County deputy district attorney and as a partner in an Oakland law firm where he specialized in business and commercial litigation. Justice Chin has authored important opinions on employment discrimination, punitive damages and scientific evidence. He is a frequent lecturer on these topics and has chaired several programs on employment litigation for the California Judges Association and The Rutter Group.
Justice Rebecca A. Wiseman is an Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal, Fifth District, located in Fresno. She previously served on the Kern County Superior Court and the Bakersfield Municipal Court. Justice Wiseman is a graduate of the University of California Davis School of Law, has an LLM degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and has taught at the California Pacific School of Law. Before her appointment to the bench, she practiced law with a firm in Bakersfield, and had extensive trial experience as a Kern County deputy district attorney handling environmental law cases. Justice Wiseman is the past Chair of the California Judges' Foundation and lectures frequently on employment law and evidence. She chaired the 1998 Expert Witnesses program presented by the California Judges Association and The Rutter Group.
Judge Consuelo Maria Callahan is a United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit. Before appointment to the federal bench, she served as a Judge of the San Joaquin County Superior Court, and Justice of the California Court of Appeal for the Third Appellate District. Earlier, Judge Callahan practiced as a prosecutor, specializing in child abuse, sexual assault cases. Judge Callahan is a graduate of Stanford University and the McGeorge School of Law and has an LL.M. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is also a Regent of the University of the Pacific.
Judge Callahan has been a board member of the California Judges Association, and is active in continuing education programs for attorneys and judges throughout California.
Alan B. Exelrod is a partner in Rudy, Exelrod & Zieff LLP, which exclusively represents employees in employment litigation. He is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, and after graduation worked for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund. Mr. Exelrod has been representing plaintiffs and plaintiff classes in employment cases since 1972. He gained national prominence as co-counsel in Weeks v. Baker & McKenzie, which resulted in a well-publicized jury verdict. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Labor Law Section of the State Bar of California, and is active in the California Employment Lawyers Association. He lectures widely on employment-related topics and has been a panelist on several employment litigation programs presented by the California Judges Association and The Rutter Group.
