| Jon B. Eisenberg has worked on hundreds of appeals, first as a staff attorney for the Court of Appeal, First Appellate District, subsequently as an Oakland-based appellate practitioner with the Encino civil appellate law firm of Horvitz & Levy, and now with the San Francisco Bay Area appellate law firm of Eisenberg & Hancock. He is a graduate of University of California Hastings College of Law, where he was Order of the Coif and a law review editor and now teaches appellate procedure.
Mr. Eisenberg has written extensively on civil appeals and also has lectured on this subject in continuing legal education programs. He is director of civil appeals and writs programs presented by The Rutter Group.

 | Ellis J. Horvitz, a partner in the Encino firm of
Horvitz & Levy, is one of the best known appellate
lawyers in California. He has briefed and
argued more than 50 cases before the California
Supreme Court . . . including such landmarks
as Moradi-Shalal, Garvey v. State Farm, Keller
v. State Bar and the MICRA appeals.
Mr. Horvitz is a Stanford Law graduate, and
clerked for former Chief Justice Phil Gibson of
the California Supreme Court before entering
private practice. He is a founder and past president
of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers and taught appellate
advocacy at the University of Southern California Law Center for
more than 20 years. |
| Justice Howard B. Weiner (Ret.), a former Associate Justice
of the Court of Appeal, 4th District, has broad
experience both as litigator and judge. He practiced
law in Los Angeles County for almost 20
years, and was a superior court judge for three
years before his appointment to the Court of
Appeal.
Justice Wiener is a graduate of Harvard Law
School and was awarded a Master of Law
degree from the University of Virginia Law
School. He has taught at both the University of
San Diego and California Western law schools, and participates regularly in Rutter Group continuing legal education programs. He is currently acting as a private judge. |  |
