Basic Training for Litigators:
Civil Procedure Before Trial

This 12-hour program is designed by experienced judges and litigators for attorneys with limited experience in pretrial civil procedure. The purpose is to provide you with the fundamentals you need to know to practice competently in local courts. The focus is on the basic rules and procedures . . . plus invaluable "practice pointers" that will help you avoid common pitfalls and get the job done right the first time!

We cover each pretrial stage of a lawsuit through hypos and “mini-lectures.” The issues are analyzed according to the following approach:

  • What substantive rules apply – statutes, case law, statewide rules of court?
  • What local practices should be considered?
  • Any ethical or malpractice considerations?
  • How to do it most efficiently – strategies, tactics and practice pointers
